A combination of character design/artist discussion and image gallery! Not something you see every day. I included the information bits because Samurai Champloo has an incredibly unique art style, whether we're talking the anime or the manga. And being the character design geek I am, I felt the need to indulge myself.- Please do not hotlink the images!
- Feel free to take/use as many of these as you like.
nakazawa kazuto
Nakazawa Kazuto is the artist who did Samurai Champloo's funky character designs. He has also done work in several other productions, including an anime sequence in Kill Bill, Parasite Dolls and the character designs for Namco RPG Tales of Legendia. He has a very distinct, angular art style which I have mixed opinions on. I think it works gorgeously in Champloo's environment and context, but falls flat in Tales of Legendia. I really wasn't a fan of the character art in ToL -- I feel that Nakazawa's style lends itself best to something a little more lighthearted than ToL's serious fantasy story.Below you can see a selection of the illustrations and concept artwork done for the series. Specifically Jin-centric, of course.
Gotsubo Masaru
The artist for Samurai Champloo's manga adaptation. His Jin is really a treat for the eyes. His style doesn't have the same distinctive flavor as Nakazawa's, but I still enjoy it. Jin is so adorable in the manga, what with his SD expressions and cutesy reactions.
